Mid-Winter Recess

Don't forget that Mid-Winter Recess begins at the end of the day this Friday, 2/12. Students will not return to school until Monday, February 22nd, 2010.

Writing Business Letters

We will round out our written correspondence unit with a study of business letters. Students will learn the use of business letters as well as the specific format in which to write them. Students will then write a business letter of compliment or a business letter of complaint to the maker of a product they often use.

Needing Stamps

All students are asked to bring in two first-class stamps for our letter writing unit. If students bring in an additional two stamps, they will receive a homework pass.

Snail Mail Relay

Students are participating in what is known as the Great Snail Mail Relay. Eighth grade students from all across the country practice their writing skills by writing to other eighth graders in all fifty states. Students received a letter from a student in Mitchell, Indiana. All students will write back to this student and then write to another eighth grade class from another state. As we receive letters back, we will keep you posted!
